Dr. Zandstra Will Care for Your Implants
Dr. Zandstra will do everything possible to save your teeth. But, if a dental implant is needed, you’re in good hands. She works with some of the top implant doctors to get you the implants you need and can help manage the care of your implants for the rest of your life. Dental implants are an excellent option for those seeking to replace one or more missing teeth or to affix a total arch replacement for those who’ve lost function in all of their natural teeth.
What are dental implants?
A dental implant is an appliance used to replace the roots of teeth. The implant is surgically attached to the jaw bone and an artificial tooth is attached to the top of the implant, creating a natural-looking, undetectable replacement for the missing tooth.
Dental implants with artificial teeth are the closest thing to regrowing your natural teeth. They are strong, stable, durable, and virtually undetectable. By filling gaps left by missing teeth, implants can provide better chewing ability and head-off jaw joint problems.
Implant Teeth-in-a-Day
Dental implants with artificial teeth are the closest thing to regrowing your natural teeth. They are strong, stable, durable, and virtually undetectable. By filling gaps left by missing teeth, implants can provide better chewing ability and protect your facial bone and jaw by promoting bone growth instead of bone loss that is typical of traditional dentures.
Built to last, dental implants can last for decades with minimal effort and look, fit, and function just like your other healthy teeth around the implants. Once you have your implant, you won’t even think about it, so you can just enjoy life.
Implant-Supported Dentures
Do you wear dentures or have a mouthful of missing or failing teeth? Traditional dentures are not attached to anything and simply rest on the gums. This means that the denture can get dislodged when chewing and often limits the realistic selection of food choices for the denture wearer.
Fortunately, dentures can be attached to implants to help improve their fit and greatly increase chewing ability. As an added benefit, the implants prevent the steady bone loss caused by traditional dentures. Dentures attached to implants give support to the cheeks and lips creating a more youthful appearance. Speaking, chewing, swallowing, and smiling are also improved due to the confidence that results from having the dentures firmly secured in the mouth.

3-Steps to Getting Your New Tooth
Getting an implant isn’t as long a process as you think or as expensive or cutting edge. Dental implants have been in use since the 1970s, but the technology for placing them has steadily improved with the advent of 3D-guided dental surgery. Dr. Zandstra works with local, top oral surgeons to place your new dental implants effectively.
Step 1: Request Consultation
The first step of your treatment process is to request a consultation at Dr. Zandstra’s office. She’ll let you know what you should expect based on your situation and receive a comprehensive evaluation, which includes digital x-ray scans. In order to personalize your treatment, we’ll want to understand your smile goals. If you need any pre-implant procedures, we’ll determine if you’ll need a separate appointment or can have them completed on the day of your surgery by a trusted oral surgeon. Dr. Zandstra will then prepare the custom surgical guide to ensure the oral surgeon places your implants accurately and precisely.
Step 2: Surgery
There is nothing to worry about on the day of your dental implant surgery! We always first make sure you’re relaxed and comfortable. When you’re comfortable, Dr. Zandsta’s trusted oral surgeon will place a dental implant post into your jawbone using the custom guide Dr. Zandstra produced at your consultation appointment. The implant procedure will be over in about an hour. We’ll have a temporary dental crown ready to attach to your implant if its primary stability is efficient. That means you’ll have a complete smile when you leave on the day of your appointment so you can smile with confidence!
Step 3: Restoration
During the healing phase, the implant post(s) will integrate with the natural bone, fusing in a place like a tooth root. Dr. Estelle Zandstra will monitor the progress of your healing to ensure your dental implant will provide long-term support for your final tooth. When this phase is complete, you’ll return to our office to receive your final restoration. This dental crown will be made from strong porcelain or ceramic material and color-matched to your existing teeth. Our goal is to provide you with a permanent new tooth that can’t be distinguished from the rest!
Dental Implant Benefits
If you’re missing a tooth, a dental implant is the best choice to replace the root of the missing tooth and an abutment and crown affixed to that will make it look like your natural tooth was never missing, and the bone around that new implant will be restored improving your health.

The same line of thinking should cross your mind if you have a complex problem with your mouth including missing, damaged teeth, or restorations. A prosthodontist is a recognized dental specialist and has received advanced training in the restoration of teeth, including the use of crowns, bridges, veneers, fixed dentures, and dental implants.

What Can Dr. Estelle Zandstra Fix?
Trish and Anna tell their stories in the video reviews below of Dr. Zandstra and her amazing cosmetic dental work.
Anna Loves Her New Smile
Anna had an open bite and was concerned with the look of her smile and with tooth function in the future. Her teeth looked too small and she felt she had a gummy smile. With Dr. Zandstra’s expertise, she was able to alleviate all of her concerns. Through the use of porcelain veneers, she now has a smile she can be proud of and that gives her confidence.
“You will never, ever regret it. It’ll be the best thing you ever did. You’ll wish you did it ten years ago. I love the way I look.” ‑Anna L.
Fixed Dentures Changed Trish’s Life
Trish had traditional dentures and wanted to have the fixed, confident, youthful smile that she deserves. She was referred to Dr. Zandstra by her daughter and flew to Atlanta from California for her consultation with Dr. Zandstra and the oral surgeon. The next week Trish had 6 upper implants and 6 lower implants with temporary fixed lower teeth.
Trish then returned to Atlanta for her upper and lower fixed teeth, and Dr. Zandstra used digital technology to create the beautiful stable smile Trish has today!
